Trade shows play a significant role for marketing. Generally, the objectives of participating in trade shows will involve to introducing new products or services, enhancing brand awareness, building strategic relationships, etc.

In order that our participation in trade shows can be effective, it is important that such participation is well planned, especially equipments needed, such as trade show exhibits, table covers, table top display, as well as directors chairs. In this post, I will discuss the use of these equipments, briefly.

According to The Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR), seven out of 10 tradeshow attendees plan to buy one or more products. Meanwhile, Center for Exhibiting Industry Research revealed that:

-          22 percent of sales and marketing executives say trades shows are their number one source for leads.

-          86 percent of trade show attendees are new contacts for those exhibiting.

-          75 percent of attendees pre-plan the companies they will visit at the show, and;

-          53 percent of attendees intend to buy within 12 months.

So, consider to participate in trade show exhibitions if you need to increase your business performance.

Dear Mr Chairman, following the latest events which surrounded the Football Association of lnconesia (PSSI), the case was debated during the FIFA Executive Committee meeting held on 30 May 2011 in Zurich. The FIFA Executive Committee regretted that your efforts did not yield the expected results, and that the football situation in Indonesia was still characterised by deep turmoil. It took also note of the obstructive attitude of some members who prevented the elections from taking place during the elective congress on 20 May 2011.

The FIFA Executive Committee was as well briefed on the concerns of the highest Indonesian authorities with regard to their fear of potential adverse consequences and the subsequent commitment by the Head of State made to the Chairwoman of the Indonesian National Olympic Committee that FIFA conditions would be fully implemented from now on. Under these circumstances, the FIFA Executive Committee decided to grant PSSI a last chance to fulfill the conditions of FIFA or to face an automatic suspension as of 1 July 2011. The FIFA Executive Committee thus decided to extend the deadline of the PSSI normalisation committee until 30 June 2011 with the following mandate:

• to organise elections of new office bearers according to the relevant regulations and previous FIFA decisions (see our letters from 4 April 2011, 21 April 2011, 6 May 2011, 11 May 2011). In particular the four banned persons remain ineligible

• to bring the breakaway league back under the control of PSSI or at least have it stopped. The FIFA Executive Committee stressed that the continuation of the LPI league constitutes a serious threat to the basic principles of organised football and thus cannot be tolerated.

Should these conditions not be met by the set deadline, the PSSI will be automatically suspended as of 1 July 2011 until further notice. In this case, the FIFA Executive Committee delegated to the FIFA administration the authority to change the composition of the PSSI Normalization Committee, in consultation with the AFC.

We would like to underline that a PSSI suspension would mean that the PSSI would lose all its membership rights (cf. art. 12 of the FIFA Statutes). In particular, no Indonesian team of any sort (including clubs) could have any international ccntact (cf. art.14 par.3 of the FIFA Statutes). 

This would thus prevent Indonesia from participating in the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers, and also probably prevent its participation in the upcoming SEA Games. But it would also mean that neither PSSI nor any of its member or official could benefit from any development programme, course, or training from FIFA or AFC any longer.

Trade Show Displays: The Use and Material Used

Trade show displays and several other equipments such as truss, logo floor mats, as well as exhibit booths are key success factors in a trade show. This post will briefly discuss the use of, and the material usually used for, these equipments.

Trade show displays. Trade show display is a graphic display device. They usually used for trade shows or trade fairs, and many other events. There are customs trade show displays made of metals, panels, and laminates. Many newer trade show displays are designed to reduce weight and setup / dismantle time, and utilize tension fabric graphics. Decorative Truss.  Decorative truss is also used at trade shows or trade fairs.  Night clubs, stores, churches, and concerts also use truss as home décor. Truss can be custom made to fit our display needs where we can hang graphics, and banners, from them. 

Logo Floor Mats. All types of business and organizations use logo floor mats as entry mats with a logo or message printed on them.  Since logo floor mats come in larger sizes too, trade show exhibitors are starting to use them as cheap printed flooring.

Key points in Advertising with Banner Stands

Banner Stands are well known as one of the most cost effective ways to target a live audience. Various events such as trade show, job fair, etc., are great moments to attract business, or to grab people’s attention by using banner stands.

8 Gold Medals at the Central Java QCC Convention 2010

The Central Java QCC Convention organized by the Central Java BPPTK (Balai Peningkatan Produktifitas Tenaga Kerja) was successfully held on November 10th, 2010 at Patra Hotel, Semarang. 22 QCCs from eight companies in Central Java, Indonesia participated in this convention.

There are 8 QCCs from Djarum - Kudus, 5 QCCs from Pertamina - Cilacap, 2 QCCs from Konimex – Solo, 2 QCCs from TPS Food, 2 QCCs from Astra – Honda. AST Indonesia, Gunung Subur, and Jasa Marga each involved one QCC. All participants seemed enthusiastic to follow the convention and to present their treatise.

At this Central Java QCC Convention, eight QCCs received gold medal award. These include Djarum’s ‘Pukul’, Binamarga’s ‘Atlas’, TPS Food’s ‘Q-Intan’, and five more QCCs. Seven QCCs received silver medal award. And, the rest seven QCCs received bronze medal award.

There were six jurors at this QCC convention. These included Stanley Sutrisno from PT. Apac Inti Corpora, Rustamadji from University of Semarang (USM), Triyono Suryoningputro from PMSM (Perhimpunan Manajemen Sumber Daya  Manusia Indonesia) as the foreman, and three other jurors.

QCC (Quality Control Circles) convention is an event where QCCs demonstrate their rule and ability in making improvements in their workplace. This event can also be used as a means to demonstrate commitment to the company's high quality standards, and to give awards to employees who have made improvements.

IWA 2:2007. Guidelines for Application of ISO 9001:2000 in Educational Organization.

IWA 2:2007? What is it?

IWA is an abbreviation of International Workshop Agreement. IWA 2:2007 is a document prepared through a workshop mechanism, and was published by ISO (International Organization for Standardization) in 2007. IWA 2:2007 replaces and cancels the first edition (IWA 2:2003).

IWA 2:2007 consists of guidelines for the application of QMS ISO 9001:2000 in educational organizations. The guidelines contained within this international workshop agreement (IWA) do not add to, change, or otherwise modify the requirements of QMS ISO 9001:2000. And, the guideline is not intended for contractual purposes nor for certification, rather it provides guidance on a wide range of topics for continuous improvement of educational organization’s performance, efficiency and effectiveness. *)

As it’s a guideline for educational organization, most of terms and definitions in this guideline are related to educational terms such as curriculum, education, accreditation, assessment of learning, learning material, etc.  A self-assessment questionnaire for educational organizations is provided in Annex-A (informative). While, Annex-B lists examples of educational processes, measures, records and tools. This allows educational organizations to more easily design their Quality Management System.

Energy Audit is an Important Starting Point for Efficient Energy Usage. That’s the topic of the international workshop on energy audit held on August 2nd – 3rd, 2010 at the Faculty of Engineering of Diponegoro University, Semarang – Indonesia.

This workshop was hosted by the Faculty of Engineering of Diponegoro University in collaboration with Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e), Holland, The Indonesian Ministry of Energy, Resources, and Minerals (Kementerian ESDM), and the CASINDO.

After completion of the workshop, the participants will:

- Have a deeper understanding of the concept of energy audit;

- Have a better planning and managing how to use the energy for a long term periods;

- Have ability to audit and estimate the need of energy on their office, laboratory, or unit, and;

- Be able to develop the research or collect data corresponding to audit energy based on their major.

Those are the objectives of the workshop.

This workshop, which focused on auditing a small-to-medium size industry or public offices to identify problems areas and finding cost effective solutions, was designed for academia, governments, NGO, and industries. Approximately 60 participants attended this workshop.

Keynote Speaker from TU/e, Holland was Patrick Van Schindler, and the other speakers included Mr. JJ Luthan from Trisakti University, Jakarta – Indonesia. In principle, this workshop run smoothly, and most of participants gave their respects for the organization of this workshop.

Heavy rains fell in the month of July. What does it means?

It is July 12, 2010. Normally, it should be no more rain here, because July is included in the dry season. Dry season in Semarang, Indonesia is between the month of April to October. But, in fact it still frequent rain here, even almost everyday. What does it means? We don't even know when the rain will stop and the dry season will come.

Proof of Climate Change?

Last year, the last rain here fell on June 09, 2009. It means dry season has been retreated more than a month. And, this year dry season even retreated more than two months. I feel that from year to year the dry season tends to become shorter. Conversely, rainy season tends to become longer. Is this the evidence that climate change already take place here? If it is, what's the effect, and what should we do now?
